Are mortgage rates high or low right now? (Louisville Courier-Journal)

A: Compared to a year ago, they’re a little lower. Mortgage company Freddie Mac says the average in the Southeastern states this past week was 6.04 percent with a fee amounting to 0.3 percent of the loan, down from 6.10 percent a year ago with a 0.7 percent fee.
