NEW YORK (Reuters) – Former New York police commissioner Bernard Kerik was indicted on federal corruption charges that could cause further embarrassment to friend and one-time boss Rudy Giuliani as he campaigns for president.
Kerik faces 14 counts including tax fraud and lying to investigators looking into his personal finance and business dealings, the U.S. attorney’s office said on Friday.
The indictment could pose an embarrassment to Giuliani, the former New York City mayor who polls say leads the race for the Republican nomination in the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Read more
