HGTV adds 2 home improvement shows

Addicts of home improvement TV get two new fixes today, one about big-time renovations and one for less-ambitious projects.

‘Rip & Renew’ (9:30 a.m., HGTV) features builder James Lunday and interior designer Michelle Carano. They guide viewers through projects to increase a home’s ‘flash’ value, convert wasted space into usable square-footage and add architectural flourishes to add value. Their techniques are also illustrated at www.hgtv.com.

‘Hammer Heads’ (10:30 a.m., HGTV) stars home expert Steve Hanneman and carpenters Carmen de la Paz and Marcus Hunt. They dole out design advice and demonstrate projects that can be finished in only days, with on-screen graphics. Read more
