BARTOW | The city clerk will tally signatures on petitions seeking a voter referendum on a Bartow zoning decision, the City Commission decided Monday night. Commissioners voted 3-2 to begin the tabulation, despite their lawyer’s advice to the contrary. Last week, Interim City Attorney Sean Parker halted the count, citing state law prohibiting petitions or referendums when challenging this type of zoning decision. On Monday, he stood by that position.
