Home building slows in Olathe
Olathe’s boom seems to be simmering as the city follows national trends of slower home development.
In the second quarter, the number of permits for single-family homes dropped, with 144 issued for April through June this year. The new construction added roughly 365,000 square feet of housing to the city’s inventory. Last year during the same period, Olathe recorded more than 274 new housing permits and added around 680,000 square feet.
Olathe’s trend follows a national one in which U.S. home construction fell in a recent quarter to its lowest level since 1997. Read more
