Rates on 30-year mortgages sank this week to their lowest point in two months, a dose of good news for people thinking about buying a home. Freddie Mac, the mortgage company, reported Thursday that 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.59 percent, down 0.09 percent from a week ago.
