NovaStar Financial Inc. is ‘absolutely not’ anticipating bankruptcy, a senior officer said this morning after a Wall Street analyst set a target price of zero for its shares.
‘It’s a scary time in the market, but we’re weathering the storm,’ said Chris Miller, senior vice president and servicing manager for the Kansas City-based sub-prime mortgage lender.
‘We’re not anticipating bankruptcy, no. Absolutely not,’ Miller said.
Like other lenders to less creditworthy homebuyers, NovaStar has been beset by customer delinquencies and defaults. Last week, the company suspended funding new mortgages through its wholesale lending channels. Read more
