Beazer Homes USA said Wednesday it has fired its chief accounting officer for attempting to destroy documents, fresh trouble for a company already under federal criminal investigation.
The executive, Michael Rand, was caught during an internal investigation of the company’s mortgage business, Beazer said in a securities filing. It did not describe the documents.
The incident is another setback for the Atlanta homebuilder, whose stock is down 39 percent this year as it struggles with investigations, lawsuits and a down market for new homes. Read more
