Loss of manufacturing jobs, and their replacement with lower-paid service jobs, has contributed to higher home loan delinquency rates in Georgia and the Deep South, compared with other states. In first-quarter 2006 data, released during a teleconference Monday afternoon, the Mortgage Bankers Association said loan delinquency rates nationwide have increased over the same quarter last year.
